Author: Doug J. Cooper
Genre: Sci-fi/Adventure
Humanity has pushed the boundaries of science and synthesized the first sentient intelligence of it's kind. The four-gen Crystal, Criss, has the power to catapult mankind into the realms of limitless possibility or lord over us like the tyrants of old.
Yet, Criss and humanity have a common enemy and must work together for their mutual survival. But when the dust is clear, what side will Criss be on? Will he serve the good of humanity or his own interests?
There are many messages in this story. The one that sticks out to me is the idea of roles. Power and control shouldn't be considered the summit of success.
All roles are important and serve a purpose. Subservience doesn't mean you are less, only that you are a necessary cog in the overall design. Beside aren't we all accountable to a higher authority?
My favorite aspect to the story is the author's ability to pack it full of action and not go overboard. The plot is wonderfully fast paced, but the reader won't feel that anything important was left out or the plot developed to quickly.
The characters are authentic and engaging. Both plot and characters are revealed naturally through the book's fantastic action and dialogue.
Since then, he has explored life as an educator and entrepreneur. He enjoys telling inventive tales, mentoring driven individuals, and everything sci-tech.
In his new novel, Crystal Deception, Doug swirls his creative imagination with his life experiences to craft a science fiction action-adventure story with engaging characters and a plot line with surprises.
He lives in Connecticut with his wonderful wife and with pictures of his son, who is off somewhere in the world creating adventures of his own.
