Dinner Plans

If I were able to sit down and plan dinner with some of my favorite literary characters, there would be eight. Now, I'd have to plan five separate evenings because I don't know that I could learn all I wanted to from each in one night. Either that or it would be one exhaustive evening. Here we go.

My first dinner would be with Wrath, King of the vampires and the Black Dagger Brotherhood. His title is actually what I would plan to discuss. Of course, I would congratulate him on abolishing the monarchy and creating a true democracy. I'm sure it was an absolutely joyous occasion when he got re-elected as ruler, which is what I'd like to talk about. I'd want to know how he intends to convert their old laws or change them to accommodate the new democracy. Perhaps we humans could learn a thing or two.

The second night I'd invite Stephanie Plum, Joe Morelli and Ranger. Now, I'd have to pull Stephanie aside for a little girl to girl heart to heart. I mean, she does get herself into a heap of trouble and someone almost always comes to her rescue. However, she’s a smart woman, but she doesn't act like it. She still hasn’t chosen between the two gorgeous men I also invited. At this point, she would really think about growing a set and choosing one of them. After all, she can settle down with Morelli, he'll be there to bail her out (he is a cop). If all went well, I'd get to run off with Ranger.

Night two would either blow up in my face or if I was lucky, it was quite advantageous to all. Either way, let's move on to night three. Dinner would be with Dumbledore. He discovered a lot through his years with Harry. And as it happens, it seemed as if so much of what occurred he skillfully planned or was it that everything revealed itself when necessary? For instance, he knew Harry had been created as a horcrux. I'm curious to know the exact moment he realized this truth. Was it when Harry spun the ring? If so, how much of what happened afterward did he actually plan? Me, myself, and I want to know.

Provided none of these conversations have tired me out, night four would go as scheduled. By the end of this dinner I'd truly anticipate being worn out. On this night I'd have two dinner guests: Hannibal Lector and Professor X. Hopefully you already see where this is going. If not, I'll tell you because I'd love to crawl inside the mind of Hannibal. And I invited Professor X to help make that happen.

Assuming I survived night four, I'll continue with my fifth and final dinner. Tonight, I have just one guest: John/Number 4. After a night of mind-numbing pain and torture, I'll settle for some heartache and tears. In the beginning, he believed he was the reincarnation of Pittacus Lore. Then they found Eight and that changed. What I'd like to know is now that Eight has passed, does Four believe he is Pittacus Lore once again? Or has he arrived to a new theory.

With the completion of my last dinner, I now plan to sleep for the next two days. Do not wake me unless someone is dying.

About the Author

At the age of 16, Krys Fenner fell in love with Psychology and Creative Writing. At that time she wrote her first short story dealing with sexual abuse and forgiveness. Psychological issues in her family filled her with the desire to help others using her own experiences. So in 2004, she earned an Associate of Arts in Psychology. And while her sister is the one with dreams of becoming a Psychologist, Krys Fenner returned to Creative Writing. She is currently working on a Bachelor of Arts and plans to continue on to a Masters degree, where she can major in her first love (Creative Writing) and minor in her second (Psychology).
