Book Review: The Calling (Gateway Book 1)
by A.E. Albert

Author: Louise White
Genre: Paranormal Romance/Fantasy

Carolyn is a typical teen with typical teen problems. Her world is suddenly turned upside when her mother and brother are sucked through a demonic gateway.  It isn't until sometime later, Carolyn realizes she has changed...into something more.

She is now compelled to save the world from monsters.  Yet, as she learns to accept this task set before her, the term monster may not mean what it once did.

I love this classic theme in the story; don't judge a book by it's cover.  Sometimes we need to trust our emotional instincts and remember that true friendship transcends all reason.

The plot begins in the thick of madness, ensuring the reader's need to read on.  The plot is fast paced and filled with devilish twists and turns.

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters.  They are imperfect.  Yet it is their flaws that make them riveting and intriguing characters.

YA urban fantasies have been the thing for the last few years.  However, The Calling is an original spin on an old otherworldly tale.  The Calling is a great read with an ending that will make you demand more.

Louise White has been writing Urban fantasy for the last three years.  She's had a variety of jobs both before and during that time,
including waitress, library assistant, nurse, and police officer.

She holds a BSc in Health Studies, and a PG certificate in Primary Education. The scenic west coast of Scotland is where she lives with her family.
Louise is currently penning the third instalment of the Gateway series which should be completed in 2015.
