Book Review: Another Sunset by Jason Zandri

Book Review:
Another Sunset

by A.E. Albert

Author: Jason Zandri
Genre: Contemporary Literature & Fiction

Westville is the typical small Texan town.  And of course, problems will happen anywhere humans congregate.  But everything changes for this tiny country community the day David rolls into town. Almost immediately the townsfolk see something special about him.   The mystery surrounding this stranger thickens as the reader discovers there is more to him then what he seems to be.

Kindness seems to be an undervalued virtue. Courage and integrity sound so much better and kindness almost mediocre.  That's what I love about the core message I received from the book. Kindness has the power to make a difference.  It can change people, situations and perhaps even move the 'proverbial' mountain.  In short, kindness can change everyone it comes into contact with, not just the one who possesses it.

In the beginning, when the people first meet David, they're skeptical of him.  As the reader, I found myself feeling the same way.  Yet, as the story unfolds, so does David's purpose.  As the town's folk learn to trust his motives, so did I.  I realized this was due to the talent of the author who created such real and compelling characters.

I'm a comic book lover and have been since I was a young girl.  I love heroes and, really, who doesn't? I think that's my favorite part of the book. It's about a hero who didn't fall into toxic waste or get zapped by gamma rays.  His super powers come from just making the choice to be kind.

I really enjoyed Another Sunset.  It's different from most books I've read.  There's a dash of romance, humor, and heart wrenching drama.  It tells the story purely made to restore your faith in humanity and that change begins with a choice.

  1. Lindsay Schoneweis, and her never talking to Gordon Brown; Angela Merkel, and her never talking to Thaddius (an acquaintance, from Writers Café); Bruce Lee's widow, Linda Lee Cadwell, and her never talking to the people who work at Sainsbury's, based in town; Kristen Stewart, and her never talking the man, I keep seeing each Thursday, in town, always by himself; Victoria Tennant, and her never talking to John Campea, Editor-in-Chief of AMC Movie Talk..

This is going to be my act of kindness, Aimee: I'm going to put together another "The Representative" - a huge, never-before-made document, listing pairings of people who will never talk to one another.

More than anything else, this is what should tie humanity together.
