A Positive Attitude:
A Writer’s Armour
by A.E. Albert
“Keep your face always toward the sunshine - and shadows will fall behind you.”
― Walt Whitman
It all seems so hokey, doesn't it? The truth is, I would've gotten past my first chapter if I didn't adorn myself with that necessary accessory.
Despair: The Writer's Ailment
A part of me doesn't want to admit to the amount of times I just wanted to give up. Basically, this happened every time I sat in my writer's chair.
Everyday was the same. I'd sit down, say a prayer and whisper to myself, 'just do it.' Of course, there was also the numerous times I would repeat that very phrase throughout the day.
Having talent isn't good enough. Anyone who braves the journey through unknown waters needs perseverance and determination to be their guides.
But these qualities are useless without a positive attitude to keep them focused on their goal.
An Act Of Bravery
I heard someone say once that optimism takes courage. This almost sounds ridiculous until you really think about it.
To be optimistic means facing our fears and that is nothing less then courageous.
The New American Dream
A good job, a house and stability are no longer good enough. Whether we want to admit it or not, we all want to follow our hearts and do what we were made for. But the way is full of obstacles and we have to fight for what we want.
A positive attitude is an armor. Maybe not a physical one, but neither is the enemy. This enemy is the most dangerous of all because it exists in our mind.
This is for all you writers out there. Just keep going. If you think you can do it or feel this is something you need to do. That is all the verification you need that you were meant to.
What keeps you thinking positive? Let me know.
