Book Review: A Pear and a  Bear (by Tanja Russita)

Author: Tanja Russita
Genre: Children's Book

A Pear and a Bear is a compilation of three children's stories about two spying monkeys, a bear trying to catch a pear and very strange looking tree.

The authors tells these stories using very simple poetry, not unlike Dr. Seuss.  However, it's still original and possesses it's own rhythm.

The sentence structure is uncomplicated and smooth, making it an easy read and perfect for young children.  The concepts of the stories themselves are fun and unique and will still manage to leave the kids guessing at their end.

There is a pleasant symmetry between the books narration and it's illustrations; which are also simple and clean cut.  The pictures are to the point and only capture the exact concept the author is trying to convey.  This enables the reader to focus on what is happening and won't be distracted by miscellaneous visuals or wording.  I definitely recommend it for any young reader.

Tanja lives in Tromso, Norway with her husband and two children.  She is the author and illustrator of numerous children's book.
