Book Review: Beast With
by A.E. Albert
@aealbert23

Author: Stephanie Barr
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Young Adult

A Ship load of children traveling to a lunar base suddenly find themselves in a foreign part of the galaxy.  As a matter of survival, they are forced to land on an untamed and unknown planet.  Low on resources, morale and order, the captain allows a group of strangely skilled youths to brave the world outside on their own.

This group of children are from a little known tribe of form altering beings called the Bete.  Humans on their world believe them to be something to fear and loathe.  Yet, on this strange new world, the Bete may be the humans only chance of survival.

The central theme of this story to me is a classic one.  Don't judge others based in their appearance.  Now I said classic, not old.  This theme never gets old.  In fact, it may be more relevant now than ever before.

I loved the characters in this story.  The author is very adept at creating original and authentic literary personas.  The reader can't help but connect and empathize with them.

The plotline flows, with no holes or off-topic scenes.  I liked how the author unfolds the story as the plot progresses and not right away.  This leaves the reader to ponder what is going on until it is revealed.  It was a fast paced story and I looked forward to reading it daily.
