Book Title: Love Finds Its Way
Genre: Romance/Historical

What inspired you to write your first book?

The idea for my first book, Sullivan’s Way came from an old journal from a distant relative.

Is there a message in your book and/or books?

No, not really.

Is there anything in your book and/or books based on real life experiences?

I find self-expression through words therapeutic and each of my characters has a part of me in them, especially the heroines. In Sullivan’s Way, Marnie is a young woman burdened with the responsibility of keeping her family together while dealing with the death of her mother.

In Love Finds Its Way, Callie, her younger sister is considering her own vulnerability and frailty while trying to prove she’s strong enough to run the family business. The excerpt below is one of my favorites from Love Finds Its Way:

“Callie let her fingers slide down the window. The atmosphere of the mansion made the glass cool beneath her fingertips. She loved the translucence and simplicity of the glass surface. It concealed nothing. Through the glass, everything could be seen. Though fragile and delicate, it stood solid against the elements, illuminating the darkest places of the mansion. The tiny nicks and circular inconsistencies in its surface were open before the viewer. The glass had no pride, no vanity and no heart to be shattered by the truth of its imperfections.

This magnificent marvel beneath her hand was created from extreme heat and sand from the earth. Weren't we all created from the earth? Formed by the fire of our trials, and one day meant to be translucent, unafraid of judgment and frailty. Her hand fell from the glass and a deep sigh escaped her throat. She would never be strong enough to let her imperfections show.”

What books and/or writers have influenced you the most?

Some of my favorite authors are Sandra Brown, Nicholas Sparks, Debbie Macomber, Diana Gabaldon and Nora Roberts.

What has been your greatest challenge when writing?

Time is not my friend and finding a schedule that works with a full time job, kids, family and friends can be challenging.

What are you working on right now?

I’m writing the third book in the Way of Hearts Saga, Way of Surrender and planning the remaining two, Wayfires and What Lies in the Way. Two new characters are introduced in Love Finds Its Way and will have their own stories soon. I’m also working on a series based on a family of Kentucky brothers.

What have you learned and do you have any advice for other authors?

Learn from your mistakes. Accept them and move on. Be commented to writing and willing to grow. Most of all learn, believe in yourself and your work.
