Ally is your average teenager dealing with typical teenage issues. You know, homework, annoying popular kids, embarrassing parents...and of course, love. Mind you, in Ally's family, all of the women have a gift. Although this is normal in her world, Ally soon discovers she is very different. As she is continually overwhelmed by her new power, she fights to control and understand it. And decide whether it is a gift or a curse.
Life is full of ups and downs. It's a windy road and sometimes we can't see the bend until it's too late. Change is the true constant in life. What matters most is how we embrace this change. Are we going to look at with aborhance or as an avenue of learning?
Throughout of the layers of plots and subplots, that was the message I received from the book. It was truly all about watching Ally grow, make mistakes and see the world, and herself, with a broader perspective.
I loved Evhans writing style. It was an easy read I couldn't put the book down. Her narrative skills are outstanding. She breathes life into her heroine, letting the reader see all the positive and negative aspects to her character. I believed I was in the mind of a teenage girl.
All of the author's characters are real and believable. Almost instantly, I could picture them in my mind's eyes. I could see their mannerisms, facial expression and feel their emotions.
However, it is her dialogue that truly brings her character to life. It's well written in the sense that sometimes it's thoughtful, passionate and other times, clumsy. I felt as though I was privy to authentic conversations.
The plot had you hooked from the beginning. The mystery presents itself early in the story and slowly draws the reader in. I was never once bored, but continually wanting to read on.
