Book Review: The Summer Solstice Enchanted
by A.E. Albert

Author: K.K. Allen
Genre: Fantasy/Romance/Young Adult

The life that Kat knew is over.  Her mother is dead and she is forced to leave her home and live with a grandmother she has never known.  As she makes friends and enemies alike, she is beginning to suspect that something is strange about her new home.  Just when she thought her life was over, an electrifying and perhaps, frightening destiny awaits her.

Life is full of winding roads and sometimes we have no idea what is waiting for us around the bend.  Allen's novel sends the message that maybe life isn't always what we expect it will be.  Perhaps, life has more in store for us then we realize and just maybe, there's more to us then we know.

Immediately, I found myself sympathizing for Kat.  The author had created a vulnerable, yet strong young woman.  I enjoyed watching her embrace the torch handed to her and grow into much more then the sad girl I met at the beginning of the book.  All of Allen's characters are real and believable.  The dialogue makes them even more alive and genuine.

The Summer Solstice Enchanted is well written, making it a smooth read.  The plot was laid out logically and I didn't find myself questioning holes in the story.  It begins with a hair pulling mystery, which will keep the reader turning the pages.
