How to Create an Active
Table of Contents for
Your eBook

1. BookMark:
- Open document and click on insert.
- Highlight Table of Contents.
- Click 'bookmark.'
- Name it TOC (no spaces).
- Click 'Ok.'
2. Bookmark Chapters
- Highlight chapter heading in the first chapter.
- Click 'bookmark.'
- Name it ch1 (no spaces).
- Click 'Ok.'
- Repeat this for every chapter.
3. Hyperlink To Chapters:
- Highlight chapters in table of contents.
- Click 'hyperlink.'
- Click on appropriate chapter name.
- click 'Ok.'
- Repeat this for every chapter.
4. Hyperlink To TOC:
- Highlight chapter headings in chapters.
- Click 'hyperlink.'
- Click 'place in this document.'
- Click 'TOC.'
- Click 'Ok.'
- Repeat this for every chapter.
- Go to 'bookmarks' and clean out the hidden bookmarks.
It seems complicated, but if you follow these instructions, making an active TOC is quite simple.
